The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is sophomore cross country runner Ryan Exell, it was announced by the athletic department on Tuesday.
Exell led the Wolverines to a strong start to the 2019 season, taking third place as a team at the Detroit Mercy Titan Invitational Saturday at Cass Benton Park in Northville, Mich.
Exell was ninth in the overall results, crossing the line at 21:22.1 in the four-mile race. The Wolverines finished the race ahead of No. 22 Madonna University and narrowly miss topping host Detroit Mercy, an NCAA Division I program. The Player of the Week honor is the third for Exell in his career after earning the award twice as a freshman.
The Wolverines return to action at the Rumble in the Fort hosted by Purdue-Fort Wayne Friday in Fort Way, Ind.
