DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s basketball guard Mafiaion Joyner, it was announced Wednesday.
The senior from Battle Creek, Mich., is the first men’s basketball player to receive the honor this season.
Last week, Mafiaion Joyner recorded his second straight double-double and fifth overall in a 70-57 loss against Concordia University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse. Joyner recorded 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Prior to Saturday’s contest, Joyner had 10 points and 14 rebounds in a victory over the University of Northwestern Ohio.
In 10 games this season, Joyner is averaging 13.7 points per game and his 137 points overall leads the team. Joyner has recorded a team-leading 11 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
Joyner and the Wolverines will continue WHAC play against Lawrence Tech at 8 pm Wednesday at the Don Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich.
