The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is softball infielder Makenna Millhorn, it was announced on Wednesday.
The freshman from Riverview, Mich., is the third softball player to receive the honor this season.
Last week, Millhorn helped UM-Dearborn to a 4-2 record against conference opponents, to improve to 7-8-1 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
The Wolverines swept Rochester College on Wednesday, before falling to Madonna twice on Friday. The following day, Millhorn helped UM-Dearborn to a sweep over Cornerstone University. The Wolverines won a high-scoring game one 14-10 and completed the sweep with a 4-3 victory in extra innings.
In game one, Millhorn recorded two runs on three hits, while adding one RBI. She also recorded her first career home run in the third inning to give the Wolverines a 10-run lead. In game two, she added two hits and one run.
Millhorn has appeared in 26 games for the Wolverines this season. She has 10 runs and 5 RBIs on 13 hits in 58 at-bats.
Millhorn and the Wolverines continue WHAC play against Indiana Tech at 3:30 pm on Wednesday at Bryce Field in Detroit, Michigan.
