The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is men’s cross country freshman Ryan Exell, it was announced by the Department of Athletics on Wednesday.
The first year student-athlete from Canton, Mich. has had a strong start to his college career.
The cross county program competed at the Calvin Knight Invitational, one of the largest events on the UM-Dearborn schedule, on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich., with Exell finishing 55th out of nearly 300 runners in the 8K race. His final race time was 26:42.9, leading the Wolverine men’s team.
Exell’s performance last weekend followed an exceptional start in his first race with the Wolverines at the inaugural Wolverine Twilight Invitational on Aug. 31 in New Boston, Mich. He competed in the 5K race and finished eighth.
Exell and the Wolverines return to action at the Ray Bullock Invitational hosted by Taylor University at 5 pm Friday, Sep. 21 in Upland, Ind.
