The University of Michigan-Dearborn Player of the Week is women’s basketball forward Cydney Williams, it was announced on Wednesday.
The sophomore from Canton, Mich., has helped UM-Dearborn open the season 3-0for the first time in 10 years. Williams, a transfer from Wayne State University, has started in all three games.
The Wolverines began the season at the LTU Classic in Southfield, Mich., defeating Point Park University 72-51 and Ohio Christian University 85-55 on Oct. 26-27. In its home opener last Friday, UM-Dearborn dominated in the second half on its way to a 97-39 victory over Wright State University-Lake Campus.
Williams has recorded 10.3 points per game while playing 20.3 minutes per game, putting her second on the team in both categories. She leads the team with 4.3 offensive rebounds per game and 8.3 per game overall.
Following an exhibition loss against NCAA DI foe, the University of Detroit Mercy on Tuesday in Detroit, Mich., Williams and the Wolverines will play their next two games at home. The first of which will take place against Spring Arbor University at 5:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.
