Women's Cross Country - Fri, Nov. 11, 2011
Grand Rapids, MI - In its first season as a varsity sport, the women's cross country team is sending a runner to the NAIA National Championships. Junior Joan Stoian finished in 10th place at the WHAC Meet with a time of 19:21 good enough for her to head to Vancouver, WA on November 19th for nationals. Stoian has been the Wolves best runner all year and pulled out a great time to qualify. As a team, Michigan-Dearborn finished 7th out of 8 teams. Junior Erika Antanovich was the second member of the Wolves to cross the finish line. She had a time of 22:09. Rounding out the runners in the 5000 meter race were freshman Alyse Madej, junior Amanda Van Dongen, and freshman Mollie Kurasik. The team showed great improvement throughout the season as runners' times kept getting lower and lower with each race. Head Coach Lee Shaw is looking forward to the team performing well next season.
