Dearborn, MI - The men's basketball team won its home opener Sunday afternoon defeating the Roosevelt University Lakers 74-61. The Wolverines used a 14-0 run in a three minute span to take control of the first half. Michigan-Dearborn (2-0) shot 48% in the first half including going 7 for 14 from beyond the three point line to take a 41-24 lead at halftime.
Michigan-Dearborn would extend the lead to 21 points early in the second half. Roosevelt would use an 8-0 run to pull within 9 points with just over three minutes left to play. Sophomore Jason Penn would make four free throws and have a late basket to ensure the Wolverines 74-61 win. Penn led the team with 21 points and 5 blocks while Xavier Crofford added 19 points including three free throws late in the game.
The men's basketball team will host Great Lakes Christian College on Wednesday night at 7:30pm.
