East Lansing, MI - The men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing on Friday. The men took off first at 11:50am. Ryan Pickell (SR/Riverview, MI) once again led the men's team with a time of 27:59 in the 8000 meter race. Moad Yaseen (SO/Dearborn, MI) finished shortly after Pickell with a time of 28:49 while Alex Krasuski (JR/Milford, MI) and Sean Nowak (JR/Trenton, MI) finished with the exact same time of 29:23. Nick Williamson (SR/Plymouth, MI) (29:41), Andrew Kohn (FR/Dearborn, MI) (30:14), and Jared Zella (FR/Canton, MI) (30:48) rounded out the men's teams' runners. The Wolverines finished ahead of fellow WHAC school Concordia University and just behind NAIA foe Spring Arbor University.
The women's race began at 12:30pm. Megan Seccombe (JR/Dearborn, MI) was the top Michigan-Dearborn female runner with a time of 26:25 in the 6000 meter race. Kayla Dela Cruz (FR/Canton, MI) was right behind Seccombe as she finished with a time of 26:56. Alyssa Harlow (FR/Wyandotte, MI) finished strong as she crossed the finish line with a time of 27:34. Emily Rader (FR/Dearborn, MI) finished close behind Harlow with a time of 28:03. Rounding out the women's runners were Emily Eccleton (JR/Allen Park, MI) (28:41), Caroline Mahalak (SO/Westland, MI) (30:47), and Kaylee Kozlowski (SO/Riverview, MI) (31:05).
The cross country teams will enjoy a few weeks off as they return to action on October 7th when they will compete in the Lansing Invitational hosted by Lansing Community College.
