SYLVANIA, Ohio - The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team traveled south to take on the top team in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, No. 9 Lourdes University, Friday in Sylvania, Ohio.
The Wolverines were unable to get their attack going in a three-set loss, 25-13, 25-11, 25-10. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 9-16 overall and 2-10 in the WHAC.
Colby DeMare (SR/Dearborn MI) and Christina Oakley (FR/Novi, MI) led the Wolverine attack with five kills each, while setter Daniella Barile (FR/Plymouth MI) finished with 12 assists. The UM-Dearborn defense was led by Raechel Warchock (SR/Jackson, MI) with nine digs, while Barile added seven.
For Lourdes, Stephanie Ruffing led the charge with 11 kills. Meghan Birr posted a match-high 30 assists, while Molly Shonk added 12 digs. The Gray Wolves finished with 12 total blocks, stifling the Wolverine attack at the net.
UM-Dearborn remains on the road for another WHAC matchup, taking on Siena Heights University at at 4 p.m. Saturday in Adrian, Mich.
