GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's and women's cross country teams competed in their final tune up for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships, as the Wolverines headed west to run in the NAIA Great lakes Challenge Invitational hosted by Aquinas College Saturday at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Ryan Pickell shined for the Wolverine men, setting a new program record with a a time of 26:44.27 on the course filled with NAIA runners. Pickell's time, which was goo enough for 68th, helped the men finish 19th out of 25 teams. Alex Krasuski was second across the line for UM-Dearborn with a time of 27:51.69, while Sean Nowak was close behind with a time of 28:05.27.
For the UM-Dearborn women, four Wolverines set personal records led by Kayla Dela Cruz with a 66th place showing in a time of 19:52.62. Megan Seccombe was 76th with a time of 20:01.51, while Catherine Miller (21:16.52) and Emily Rader (21:59.58) also set personal bests. The Wolverine women finished 18th out of 25 teams.
The Wolverines return to Riverside Park to the WHAC Championships Nov. 5 in Grand Rapids.
