DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball season recently came to a close and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced its postseason awards Wednesday, with three Wolverines picking up recognition.
In her first season with the Wolverines, junior Briann Alspaugh (JR/St. Louis MI) was named to the All-WHAC Second Team for her outstanding performance in 2016. In addition, freshman Daniella Barile (FR/Plymouth MI) was named the UM-Dearborn volleyball Champion of Character, while Raechel Warchock (SR/Jackson, MI) earned WHAC All-Academic Team honors.
Alspaugh closed the season season playing in 28 matches and 90 sets, recording 169 kills at an average of 1.88 per set. Playing all six rotations by season's end, Alspaugh began filling up the stat sheet. She finished with a team-high 33 service aces and was second on the team with 48 total blocks. She added 85 total digs and 10 assists.
Alspaugh posted a season-high in kills with 13 twice, once against Maine-Fort Kent and again in a match at Kalamazoo College. She had a season-high seven aces in a win over Maine-Presque Isle.
The Wolverines finished the season 9-20 overall and 2-14 in the WHAC.
