DEARBORN, Mich. - The Indiana Tech women's basketball team pulled away from the University of Michigan-Dearborn early in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup. The Wolverines were unable to get back into the contest falling 71-30 Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
The Wolverines shot 14 percent from the field as the Warrior defense made things tough for UM-Dearborn all night. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in the WHAC.
Emily Heinrich (SO/South Lyon, MI) led the Wolverines with nine points and three rebounds. Megan Swick (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) added six points, while Meredith Williams (JR/Novi, Mich.) pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
UM-Dearborn shot 7-of-50 from the field, 3-of-21 from deep and 13-of-22 at the free-throw line. The Wolverines finished with five assists compared to 23 turnovers, while getting outrebounded 37-26.
Keanna Gary led the Warriors with 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Kendall Knapke and Haley Cook scored 15 and 14, respectively. Indiana Tech shot 26-of-59 from the field, 7-of-24 from behind the 3-point line and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.
UM-Dearborn looks to get back in the win column as the team travels to Indiana University-Kokomo for a nonconference matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kokomo, Ind.
