FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Wolverines men's ice hockey team suffered its first loss since early November, dropping the first of a back-to-back against the No. 25 Indiana Tech Warriors in Friday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The 4-3 loss dropped the Wolverines to 14-6-1 on the season and 6-5 in the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League.
The Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead late in the first period and regained a 2-1 lead midway through the second. The Wolverines fought back to tie the game twice, on goals from Jeff McFarland (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) and Andrew Palushaj (JR/Livonia, Mich.). With the game tied at two, Jarrett Pfeiffer scored twice for Indiana Tech and a second goal from McFarland was not enough.
Nathan Ferris (JR/Weyburn, Saskatchewan) started the game for the Wolverines and made 18 saves on 22 shots.
UM-Dearborn outshot Indiana Tech 37-24 but lost the faceoff battle 39-31. They also finished 1-for-5 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
