DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team is set for two home games to close the 2016-17 regular season, hosting the two teams the Wolverines are tied for fourth place with in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
This Week's Schedule
2/15/17: Northwestern Ohio at 7:30 PM
2/18/17: Aquinas at 3 PM
Perhaps the biggest week in the four-decade history of the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball program is on deck, as the Wolverines look to not only make the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference postseason tournament, but UM-Dearborn is two wins from securing a first-round home game. The Wolverines continued its record-setting season last week, splitting a pair of road games. UM-Dearborn started the week with a loss at No. 1 Cornerstone University, but rebounded for a 79-71 win at Madonna University on Saturday. The Wolverines are 12-8 heading into the final week of the regular season, locked in a three-way tie for fourth place in the WHAC with the University of Northwestern Ohio and Aquinas College. Both teams tied with UM-Dearborn visit the Fieldhouse this week as the Wolverines control their own destiny for the WHAC postseason. Two wins will guarantee a first-ever home playoff game for the Wolverines next week. The top four finishers in the WHAC regular season host in the first round, while the winner of the conference tournament will join regular season champion Cornerstone as automatic qualifiers for the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament next month in Branson, Mo.
UNOH topped the Wolverines earlier this season in a close battle in Lima, Ohio. The Racers held on at the end of the game for a 63-58 win. UM-Dearborn's last victory over UNOH came in 2012.
The Wolverines picked up a critical win over Aquinas on the road last month and have won two in a row over the Saints dating back to last season.
