Nick McCutcheon is entering his fourth year as the sports information director at UM-Dearborn, joining his alma mater after two years as the SID at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.
McCutcheon, a native of Southgate, Mich., returned to UM-Dearborn to take over as the institution's first full-time SID. He maintains the website, social media, photography, record keeping and statistics for the school's 16 intercollegiate programs.
In addition to day-to-day roles, McCutcheon serves on committee's for the department's All-Sports Banquet, Hall of Fame and Hall of Fame Golf Outing, while serving as a voting member for the NAIA Player of the Week and as a coordinator for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program.
In 2019, McCutcheon earned nine top-10 finishes in the annual NAIA-SIDA Publications Contest, bringing his career total to 32 top-10 finishes. For the third straight year, McCutcheon was named a finalist for the WHAC SID of the Year and finished fourth in the standings for the NAIA Gary Spitler Excellence in Publications contest.
UM-Dearborn honored McCutcheon with the annual Department of Athletics & Recreation Acclaimed Staff Award for 2016-17.
McCutcheon attended Michigan State University and graduated in 2009 with a Master’s Degree in journalism. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in communications from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2007.
While in college, McCutcheon was a member of the UM-Dearborn lacrosse team at the MCLA level.
He now resides in a suburb of Detroit. He is the son of Ed and Brenda McCutcheon.
