The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) will host its 7th Annual Men's Division 1 All-Star Game, and Wolverines' forwards Ryan Kelly and Jase Paciocco will be participating. The game takes place Saturday March 22nd at Farmington Hills Ice Arena in Farmington Hills, MI. At 6:00pm there will be a skills competition with the game tentatively set to start at 7:35pm. The game will feature 40 ACHA Division 1 players.
The Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) awards were announced and Michigan-Dearborn's Derek Kessler was named to the GLCHL All-Rookie Team. Kessler led all Michigan-Dearborn defesenman with 9 goals and 23 assists in 36 games. Kessler helped the Wolverines to an overall record of 20-22, which included wins over Adrian College, Davenport University, and Oakland University. Seven of Kessler's nine goals were power play goals. The Michigan-Dearborn hockey team will look to Kessler to lead the team back to its winning ways next season as the team returns the majority of its players while losing five seniors including goaltender Micah Collier and defesneman Nicholas Crowley.
The hockey team's outdoor game scheduled for Sunday at 5:00pm at Clark Park has been canceled due to poor ice conditions. Clark Park officials made the decision early Sunday afternoon. The game between Michigan-Dearborn and Oakland University will not be re-scheduled as playoffs beging this Friday, February 21st. The Wolverines will face off against Eastern Michigan in the first round of the GLCHL playoffs at 2:30pm on Friday at the Onyx in Rochester, MI.
