After posting back-to-back shutouts, men's soccer goaltender Aaron Johnson has been named the Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Johnson played in the second half of the soccer team's 3-0 victory over Cleary University. Johnson, a junior from Ypsilanti, MI, made four saves playing in the second half. On Saturday, Johnson played all 90 minutes in the Wolverines 5-0 win over Rochester College. He again made four saves on Saturday. For the season, Johnson has played in three games and allowed just two goals.
Southfield, MI - The men's soccer team finished the week just how they started it - with a shutout. On Tuesday, the team defeated Cleary 3-0, on Saturday they knocked off Rochester College 5-0 at the Lawrence Tech Classic. Five different Wolverines scored in the victory. Senior Alek Vasilevski continued his hot streak by scoring the game's first goal 18 minutes into the first half. Fellow senior Kosai Zaya would score 6 minutes later giving Michigan-Dearborn a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Midland, MI - The men's soccer team traveled to Midland Friday afternoon to take on NCAA Division II Northwood University. Early on the visiting Wolverines took the lead on senior Alek Vasilevski'is first goal of the season just past the 25 minute mark of the first half. Unfortunately for Michigan-Dearborn (0-2) the lead did not last long as just over three minutes later, Northwood's Adam Thomas would tie the game. The score remained tied 1-1 at halftime.
