Dearborn, MI - The softball team has found their coach. Scott Combs was hired as the Interim Head Coach to lead to the softball team. Combs has been the head coach at Ladywood High School for the last six years. During that time, Ladywood won a state championship in 2012 and were the runner-up in 2009. He also led them to Final Four appearances in 2010, 2011, and 2013. Ladywood also won over 200 games in his six years there.
The softball team made a nice run in the WHAC tournament, but the team came up just a little bit short against Madonna in an elimination game. After defeating Indiana Tech and then losing to Cornerstone, the Wolves faced Concordia in an elimination game. Michigan-Dearborn put one run on the board in the first inning on sophomore Lindsay Taylor's single. The Wolves loaded the bases, but Concordia made a pitching change to Kortney Loar. Loar would not only strike out the Wolves next three hitters to end the threat, but she also struck out the side in the bottom of the second.
