Tim Leighton enters his second season as an associate head coach for the Wolverine varsity baseball team.
Leighton joins UM-Dearborn with an abundance of coaching experience. Previously, he coached at Henry Ford College for six years where he served in numerous positions such as the pitching/catching coach, recruiting coordinator and head coach for the past three seasons.
Leighton began his more than 20-year coaching career in 1995 at the 18U level with the Dearborn Travel Organization. He has coached at the youth levels in the Garden City Youth Athletic Organization and in the Catholic Youth Organization and is also co-founder and former coach of the Michigan Hawks 18U. Leighton has numerous coaching achievements, including a CYO final appearance in 2012 with St. Raphael Baseball Team as well as over a dozen appearances in the USSSA Elite World Series with the Michigan Hawks. He is also currently a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
A resident of Garden City, Mich., Leighton graduated from Madonna University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social/Computer Science and a Teaching Certificate.
He retired from teaching in 2012 and currently resides in Garden City, Mich., with his wife Dawn, son Tim Jr., and daughter Deanna.
