Four from Wolverine men's soccer named NAIA Scholar Athletes

DEARBORN, Mich. - Four members of the 2016 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Team honors, it was announced by the NAIA last week.

The honorees from the Wolverines include juniors Ali Anani and Fedaa Saleh, along with seniors Michael Bowyer and Alek Vasilevski. The award is the second such for both Bowyer and Vasilevski.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status, according to the NAIA.

All four were also named to the WHAC All-Academic Team, joined by senior goalkeepers Erick Beas and Aaron Johnson, as well as junior Stephen Caruso. Bowyer was also named the UM-Dearborn men's soccer representative on the WHAC Champions of Character Team.
