Wolverines swept by Saints

NOVI, Mich.- The UM-Dearborn softball team returned to action Sunday afternoon with a double-header against the Aquinas College Saints in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up.

In Game 1, the Saints used a four-run fourth inning to help secure an 11-2 five-inning victory. Leading the Wolverines was Makenna Millhorn (1-3, 2 RBI) and Aspen Starr (1-3, 2B). 

Erin McCune took the loss on the mound giving up 12 hits, while striking out two in 3.2 innings of work. Ashlynn Henderson pitched 1.1 innings in relief, scattering three hits.

In Game 2, Aquinas completed the series sweep using a nine-run second inning beating the UM-Dearborn 12-4 in five innings. Leading the Wolverines was Starr (2-3, 3-R HR, 4 RBI, RS), Madelin Skene (2-3, RS), and Millhorn (1-3, 2 RS).

Lanie Ellinger took the loss on the mound, going 1.2 innings, while giving up 10 hits. Katelyn Sadowski pitched 3.2 innings in relief, giving up five hits.

The two losses drop UM-Dearborn to 6-6 overall and 6-6 in the WHAC.

The Wolverines return to action against Lawrence Tech Wednesday at 1pm and 3pm at the Legacy Sports Center in Brighton, Mich.
