MACOMB COUNTY, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team returned to action Wednesday night, on the road against the Rochester University Warriors in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up.
The two clubs were tied at one at half-time, however the Wolverine offense would explode for four goals in the second half, on its way to a 5-3 victory over the Warriors.
The Wolverines would find themselves down early, but would tie the game late in the first half when Katherine Costello found the back of the net. Rochester University would retake the lead just two minutes into the second half, however UM-Dearborn would get goals from Rena Arabi and Emmi Pinkowski with 15 minutes left in the game.
The Wolverine lead would be short-lived, as the Warriors responded just five minutes later, typing the game at three. Elena Vasquez would strike quickly, putting UM-Dearborn back up one, while Pinkowski would add an insurance goal to secure the win. The win improves the Wolverines to 2-8-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the WHAC.
Amber Festian would get the start in goal for UM-Dearborn, making five saves in the winning effort.
The Wolverines held the edge in shots, 28-9 and in corner kicks, 5-4.
UM-Dearborn returns to action against the Madonna University Crusaders on Senior Day at 12pm at Fordson High School in Dearborn, Mich.
