Kokomo, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (0-0-1) women's soccer team utilized a late equalizer from Emmi Pinkowski to draw against Indiana University Kokomo (0-0-1) on Saturday (Aug 20). The Wolverines battered the Cougar backline with eight shots on target.
Inside the First Half
The Wolverines needed to shake off some rust in the regular season opener as they found themselves down 1-0 in the 10th minute. After the early goal, the Wolverines put constant pressure on the Cougar defense but could not finish the six chances they put on frame.
Inside the Second Half
The Wolverines would maintain that pressure throughout the second half, eventually leading to an Emmi Pinkowski equalizer in the 59th minute. Pinkowski deposited the Natalie Bicego pass into the back of the net to open her account for the year. The Maize & Blue would take 10 shots in the second half but could only score the lone goal. The Cougars were held scoreless in the half leading to a 1-1 draw.
The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday (Aug 24) as they host Bluffton at 7 p.m; at Star International Academy.
