The Wolverines fell behind by two sets to the Warriors, but battled through the third to force extra points. Indiana Tech closed the match with crucial points late snapping the five-match win streak for UM-Dearborn. The set scores were 25-14, 25-17. 27-25. The loss drops the Wolverines to 9-11 overall and 1-8 in the WHAC.
Gina Giacomini (FR/Plymouth, MI) had a team-high seven kills, while Shayla Smalls (SR/Canton, MI) and Katherine Nealy (JR/Southfield, MI) each added six. Nealy was successful blocking at the net, recording one solo block and six block assists. Gina Giacomini finished with four block assists, while Smalls, Christina Oakley (SR/Novi, MI) and Erin Parrinello (JR/Westland, MI) each added two.
Heather Roberts (JR/Flint, MI) finished with a team-high 10 digs, while Daniella Barile (SO/Plymouth, MI) finished with 14 assists.
The Warriors were led by Olivia Niekamp with 10 kills, while Madeline MacDonald added 15 digs.
The Wolverines remain home to host Lourdes University at 7 p.m. Friday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse for Dig Pink Night.
NOTE: The match on Wednesday was Most Valuable Professor Night for the Wolverines. Eight UM-Dearborn faculty members attended and were honored in a ceremony between the second and third sets.
