DEARBORN, Mich. – Mackenzie Zook recently finished an outstanding freshman season for the University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team, earning a conference honor on Friday.
For her performance this season, Zook was named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team. The honor is the first for a UM-Dearborn volleyball student-athlete since Shayla Smalls earned the award in 2015.
The Kalamazoo, Mich., native finished 2018 with 72 sets played in 24 matches. She recorded 111 kills and was fourth on the team with 1.54 kills per set. She added 61 digs, four service aces and 13 total blocks for the Wolverines.
Zook closed the season with her highest kill total, putting away 12 against Rochester College on Nov. 3
