McDonald is entering her third season as an assistant coach for the UM-Dearborn cross country coaching staff after a decorated career with the Wolverines as a student-athlete.
McDonald ran cross country for the Wolverines from 2013 to 2015. She was named a team captain in 2014 and 2015, while also taking home two WHAC Champions of Character Team awards. McDonald was a member of two women's cross country teams that won highest GPA of any program in the UM-Dearborn Athletics Department. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and was the first recipient of the Athletics Department Chancellor's Award.
McDonald was a two-time WHAC All-Academic Team member and two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete. She was a 2015 UM-Dearborn Difference Maker and the 50,000th graduate of the university. She graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration, while earning University Honors in each of her semesters at the school and was named a James B. Angell Scholar.
Prior to attending UM-Dearborn, McDonald played two seasons of soccer at Schoolcraft College. In the future, she plans to pursue an MBA.
Megan's sister, Erin McDonald, is a senior on the UM-Dearborn women's soccer team.
