The 2016-17 season is the first for Nick McCutcheon as the Sports Information Director at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He joined UM-Dearborn in September of 2016 after two years in the same position at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.
McCutcheon, a native of Southgate, Mich., returned to UM-Dearborn to take over as the institution's first SID. He maintains the Wolverines website, social media, photography, record keeping and statistics for the school's nine intercollegiate programs.
In his first year with DWU, McCutcheon oversaw the introduction of HD video streaming for live home events for first time in the school's history. The official DWU website also saw a complete overhaul under McCutcheon in 2015. The DWU brand saw several changes in 2015-16, as McCutcheon led an initiative to change the look of printed publications and social media. The DWU sports marketing department received five top-10 finishes in the annual NAIA SIDA National Publications Contests in 2015-16. All four of DWU's printed media guides placed in the top-10, with the 2015 football guide placing fourth. The athletic department Twitter presence was also recognized with the fifth most followers gained during 2015-16.
McCutcheon attended Michigan State University and graduated in 2009 with a Master’s degree in journalism. He received a Bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2007.
While in college, McCutcheon was a member of the lacrosse team at the MCLA level.
He now resides in a suburb of Detroit. He is the son of Ed and Brenda McCutcheon. His sister Amanda McCutcheon is a social worker and a graduate of Rochester College.
