The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s basketball team carried a slim halftime lead but could not hold off a strong second-half push from Lourdes, falling 72–63 on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.
DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team battled throughout but was outscored after the break in a 72–63 loss to Lourdes.
UM-Dearborn edged ahead by one at halftime, taking a 33–32 lead behind balanced scoring and solid ball movement. Jackson Reynolds set the tone offensively in the first half, while Luc Laketa and Logan Hamama provided support on both ends as the Wolverines matched Lourdes possession for possession.
The second half proved decisive, as Lourdes increased its defensive pressure and shot more efficiently. The visitors outscored UM-Dearborn 40–30 after intermission, using a series of scoring runs to create separation. Derek Fairley led Lourdes with 21 points, while Stephen Coleman Jr. added 16 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks.
Reynolds paced the Wolverines with a game-high 22 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and knocking down three three-pointers. Laketa contributed 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, and Hamama finished with eight points and eight rebounds. UM-Dearborn struggled to find consistency from the perimeter, shooting 23.3 percent from three-point range, which made it difficult to close the gap late.
Despite matching Lourdes on the glass with 39 rebounds apiece and converting all 12 free-throw attempts, the Wolverines were unable to overcome the second-half deficit. UM-Dearborn will look to regroup as it continues its home stretch at The Fieldhouse.
