Wolverines drop home-opener to GVSU, 3-1
DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s ice hockey team opened up the 2022-23 season in front of a packed Fieldhouse on Homecoming this Friday night, playing host to the Grand Valley State University Lakers.

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team opened up the 2022-23 season in front of a packed Fieldhouse on Homecoming this Friday night, playing host to the Grand Valley State University Lakers.
The Lakers would jump out to a two-goal lead before Mikhail Khudenko cut the deficit in half with his first of the year, while Josh Makarchuk and newly-appointed captain Joey Cullinan added the assists. However, GVSU would hold on, adding a late third-period insurance goal, handing the Wolverines a 3-1 defeat.
The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 0-1-0 on the season.
Tanner Beals would get the start between the pipes, making 33 saves in the effort.
The Wolverines close out the weekend series with the Lakers tomorrow night at 7 pm at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena in Dearborn, Mich.
