Wolverines Conclude Regular Season with 0-4 Road Trip
Four Wolverines hit big flies this weekend against Defiance and Lourdes
SLYVANIA, OHIO. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn baseball team showed heart and determination in a doubleheader at Lourdes University on Sunday (Apr. 27), coming up short in both contests but delivering inspired performances from start to finish.
In Game 1, the Wolverines jumped out to an early lead, plating three runs in the second inning behind a clutch three-RBI single from Beck Kjeldbjerg. Lourdes responded with a five-run third inning and added an insurance run in the sixth to secure a 6-3 win. UM-Dearborn matched Lourdes with eight hits, with Bryce Schwab and Kjeldbjerg each tallying two. On the mound, Jack Clever struck out five in four innings of work.
Game 2 turned into a high-scoring affair, with the Wolverines battling throughout a 13-10 loss. Down 13-3 after four innings, UM-Dearborn refused to back down, scoring in six of the nine frames and out-hitting Lourdes 14-12. Max Granatstein, Roberto Torres, and Carlo Corona each launched home runs, while Gavin Hampton added a double and two RBIs. Granatstein led the charge with three hits and two runs scored.
The bullpen combined to hold Lourdes scoreless over the final four innings, highlighted by two shutout frames from Kage Little.
