DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's lacrosse team completed a successful season in 2018, receiving votes in the postseason NAIA Top-10 Coaches' Poll.
Leading scorer Devon Callaghan (JR/Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) picked up a postseason award on Thursday, as he was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District At-Large Team. The honor is the first for any men's lacrosse student-athlete at UM-Dearborn.
CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic scholar-athlete honors. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District team is voted on by CoSIDA members. Voting is based on academic achievement and success in competition, making the award a highly-competitive honor.
Callaghan set new team records in a season with 47 goals and 56 points in 14 games in 2018 for the Wolverines.
Callaghan will move on to the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-American Team to be announced later this month.
