ALLEN, Texas - For the third time in three years, junior wrestler Marina Goocher, representing the University of Michigan-Dearborn club wrestling team, took her place at the top of the podium at the NCWA National Championships on March 10 in Allen, Texas.
Goocher rolled through the competition to remain perfect in her college career at the event, earning the title in the 130-pound weight class. Her previous two national titles came in the 136-pound class.
The Riverview, Mich., native started the event with a pin of Sara Andresen from the University of Massachusetts in 1 minute, 8 seconds. In the semifinals, Goocher topped Avery Souders of the University of North Texas 13-1 to advance to the title match.
In the finals, Goocher won 6-1 over Colorado State University's Kendal Davis.
Goocher is an Engineering major at UM-Dearborn.
