DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team welcomed the defending ACHA Division II National Champions to the Fieldhouse for a pair of games. In the opener, the Sault College Cougars bested the Wolverines 4-3, scoring a goal in overtime to take down the Wolverines, who overcame a 3-1 deficit late in the contest.
Despite taking three first-period penalties, the Cougars led 3-1 thanks to timely goals and a strong penalty kill. Andi Evers scored the lone goal for the Wolverines at 7:13 after Stephanie Hatch found her open in front of the net. UM-Dearborn ended the final two periods scoring two unanswered goals, first from the stick of Evers, who added her second goal of the game. Later in the period, Cadence Pero scored a powerplay goal to equalize the score at three.
The Cougars got the best of the Wolverines, scoring the game-winning goal at the 2:21 mark in overtime. Victoria Hahn started for the Wolverines, playing an impressive game in net, stopping 25 shots.
