UM-Dearborn Announces Hall of Fame Class
Five new members will be inducted into the UM-Dearborn Athletics Hall of Fame on September 23rd.
DEARBORN, Mich.-- The University of Michigan-Dearborn Department of Athletics announced five members to be added to the department's Hall of Fame as part of the 2022 class.
Charles Johnson (1994-98) - Men's Basketball
Johnson was a men's basketball team member from 1994-98. Johnson currently ranks third on the UM-Dearborn All-Time scoring list, having amassed 1,764 career points. Johnson has two of the top seven scoring seasons in program history. Johnson was also stellar on the glass with 837 career rebounds. In the classroom, Johnson was named a UM scholar-athlete during the 1996 season and a Great Lakes scholar-athlete. Johnson was voted the team MVP in 1995 and 1996.
Jayme McKay (1998-2002) - Men's Ice Hockey
McKay was a member of the men's ice hockey team from 1998-2002 and served as the team's captain. McKay was selected to the ACHA All-Tournament 2nd team in 1998-99. McKay was also a three-time member of the All-ACHA 2nd team (98-99,99-00,00-01). One of McKay's most significant accomplishments was being selected for the 2001 World University games.
Taylor Moceri (2013-17) - Softball
A member of the Wolverine softball team from 2013-17, Moceri was a weapon on the diamond for the Wolverines. In 182 games played, Moceri totaled 239 hits and a .381 career avg. Moceri also added 162 runs scored and 91 RBIs to her illustrious career. Moceri was named to the WHAC All-Conference First Team in 2015, 2016, and 2017. The 2017 season saw the Wolverines claim the WHAC regular season crown, with Moceri being the centerpiece of that team.
Vicki Rucinski (1995-99) - Volleyball
Rucinski was a staple of the Wolverine Volleyball teams in the late '90s. Rucinski was a two-time All-Section award winner during the 1996 and 1997 seasons and was a backbone of the team's success. Rucinski was a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete and won the Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete Award in 1998.
John Bieniewicz - Former Athletics Department Employee
Bieniewicz first joined the UM-Dearborn Athletics & Recreation Department as a student employee. Bieniewicz had a contagious enthusiasm and raised the bar for all employees around him. Whether assisting or running intramural programs or driving team buses, John was always around and willing to lend a helping hand. John was the preferred Crew Chief for varsity athletic events and always greeted opposing teams with a warm Wolverine welcome. Bieniewicz had an immense passion for soccer and was the pioneer for purchasing goals and creating a soccer field to start up soccer as an intramural sport. This later influenced the start of the club soccer team, which evolved into today's varsity teams.
