WHEATON, Ill. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn struck first in the top of the opening frame, manufacturing an early run when James Forner delivered an RBI single to score Darren Pagel for a 1–0 advantage.
The lead was short-lived. Judson answered emphatically in the bottom half, plating three runs highlighted by three triples and a string of well-placed hits to seize a 3–1 edge after one inning.
UM-Dearborn chipped away in the third, Max Granatstein sparked the rally with a double, and Beck Kjeldbjerg drove in a run on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 6–2.
Judson extended its lead in the fourth and sixth innings, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting to push the margin to 8–3.
The Wolverines' final run came in the fifth inning when Forner recorded his second RBI of the afternoon with a line-drive single to center, scoring Granatstein. Forner finished with two RBIs to pace the UM-Dearborn offense.
On the mound, Gavin Hampton provided stability in relief, tossing a scoreless fifth inning with two strikeouts. However, the early offensive surge by Judson proved too much to overcome.
UM-Dearborn was limited in its late-inning opportunities, striking out three times in the sixth and going quietly in the seventh.
