Adam Wheeler was named the Cross Country Head Coach on Tuesday (Jan. 6).
DEARBORN, Mich. – Director of Athletics & Recreation, Bryan Earl, announced the appointment of Adam Wheeler as the new Head Coach for the men's and women's cross country teams. The announcement was made on Tuesday, January 6th. This appointment follows Quinn Osgood's resignation in early November.
"Coach Wheeler impressed us with his vision for the future of our cross country program," stated Earl. "His commitment to student-athlete success, both in competition and in the classroom, has given us confidence that he will guide our program toward a strong future."
Wheeler brings a lifelong passion for the sport and a proven record of success as both an athlete and a coach to UM-Dearborn. His running career began at Traverse City Senior High School, where he was a varsity All-State track and field athlete and a member of the school's third-place Division I cross country team.
He continued his athletic career at Eastern Michigan University, competing as a four-year, three-sport varsity athlete in indoor track, outdoor track, and cross country. A contributor to multiple MAC Championship teams, he also earned Academic All-Conference honors. He graduated with honors from EMU with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, specializing in Computer Information Systems.
With experience shaped under some of the nation's most decorated coaches, Wheeler has held several assistant coaching roles at both the high school and collegiate levels. Most notably, he served as the assistant cross country coach at the University of Michigan–Dearborn. He spent four years as an assistant coach at Lawrence Technological University, where he helped guide the men's program to its first-ever NAIA Championship berth.
Coach Wheeler now brings his competitive background, technical expertise, and athlete-first coaching philosophy to his new role as Head Coach, committed to building a high-performance culture rooted in consistency, development, and teamwork.
