UM-Dearborn Cross Country Closes Regular Season in Strong Form at NAIA Great Lakes Challenge
The women's team took 16th, while the men's team took 21st on Saturday (Oct. 26).
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn cross country teams wrapped up their regular season with strong performances on Saturday afternoon against a deep and competitive field that included several nationally ranked programs.
Senior Kaitlyn Bourque (Garden City, Mich.) led the Wolverines on the women's side, placing 16th overall with a time of 19:35, marking one of her top performances of the season. Fellow senior Elena Wheeler followed close behind in 66th (20:27), while first-year Valeria Miranda-Diaz finished 68th (20:40) to round out UM-Dearborn's top three runners. Sophomore Itzel Huerta-Martinez (120th, 22:15) and freshman Elizabeth Lambert (136th, 23:00) completed the Wolverines' scoring lineup.
The men's cross country team turned in a solid showing at the competitive field, led by senior Brett Leidal, who finished 54th overall with a time of 27:12.80, pacing the Wolverines with determination and consistency. Fellow senior Anderson Gattis followed closely behind, crossing the line in 28:03.50 to take 98th, while junior John Borowicz clocked 29:10.10 to finish 141st. Rounding out the scoring for UM-Dearborn was senior Isaac Tiernan, who ran a 29:27.60 to place 146th.
