UM-Dearborn Golf Opens Play at Irish Hills Invitational

TECUMSEH, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's and women's golf teams teed off the fall season Friday (Sept. 12) in the opening round of the Irish Hills Invitational, hosted at Tecumseh Golf Club.
On the men's side, the Wolverines fielded both an "A" and "B" team in the 12-team event. The UM-Dearborn B squad turned in the stronger round, posting a team score of 344 (+56) to finish tied for sixth with Bluffton after 18 holes. Leading the way was Jason Cuppari, who carded a 78 (+6) to sit in a tie for 10th overall in the individual standings. Tyler Toth followed with an 84 (+12), while Cameron Grant (90) and Luke Richter (92) rounded out the scoring.
The UM-Dearborn A team closed the day tied for eighth at 268 (+52). Gavin Hill led the group with an 88 (+16), while Issa Saad was close behind at 89 (+17). Jason Spiegel (91) and Adam Haag (92) completed the lineup.
In the women's tournament, UM-Dearborn stands in sixth place after day one with a team total of 369 (+81). The Wolverines were paced by Kristen Guobis, who fired an 86 (+14) to tie for 11th on the individual leaderboard. Right behind her were Kaitlyn Creps and Megan Rogers, each recording 89s (+17) to tie for 16th. Andi Evers rounded out the scoring with a 105 (+33).
Alma's Sarah Ream leads the women's field after round one with a 76 (+4), while Wittenberg's Charlie Parker sits atop the men's leaderboard at even-par 72.
The Wolverines will return to Tecumseh Golf Club on Saturday (Sept. 13) for the final round of the Irish Hills Invitational.
