GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team begins their 2026 conference season winning three of its first four road games after a doubleheader sweep of Aquinas on Sunday (Mar. 22).
The Wolverines set the tone early in game one, erupting for six runs in the second inning on their way to a commanding 9-1 victory in five innings. LeStat Guthrie and Braylin Grueter led the offense with multi-hit performances, while Elizabeth Petrella drove in two runs. Michigan-Dearborn capitalized on early opportunities and never looked back, backing a solid outing from Maegen Boehm, who earned the win after allowing just one run across four innings.
In game two, the Wolverines continued their strong play, securing a 4-2 win to complete the sweep. Timely hitting proved to be the difference, with Ava Craft delivering an RBI double and Kendyl Gearhart adding a key RBI triple. Boehm returned to the circle and delivered a complete-game effort, allowing just two runs (one earned) while scattering five hits to earn her second win of the day.
Michigan-Dearborn's combination of early offense, situational hitting, and steady pitching powered the sweep, as the Wolverines carried momentum throughout both games to close out a successful day on the road.
