The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team split a Sunday doubleheader with Cleary University, falling 6-3 in the opener before rallying for a 6-5 walk-off victory in game two.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team(9-14, 3-4) held a mid-game lead, but a costly sixth inning allowed Cleary to pull away in the opener.
Cleary struck first with a solo home run in the opening frame, but the Wolverines answered in the fourth. Kendyl Gearhart delivered a two-run home run to left field, scoring Corina Carrillo and giving Michigan-Dearborn a 2-1 advantage.
The game shifted dramatically in the sixth inning. Cleary plated five runs on a combination of timely hitting and defensive miscues, including multiple unearned runs, to take a 6-2 lead.
Michigan-Dearborn pushed across a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Mackenzie Shelton, but the rally fell short.
Gearhart accounted for two of the Wolverines' three runs, while Onyckah Ulik added a double. Michigan-Dearborn was limited to just three hits in the contest.
Maegen Boehm took the loss in the circle, allowing six runs—four earned—over 6.1 innings, while Betty Adams recorded the final two outs in relief.

The Wolverines responded in dramatic fashion in game two, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to secure a walk-off victory.
After falling behind 2-0 early, Michigan-Dearborn got on the board in the second inning on an RBI single from Kayla Finlaw. Cleary extended its lead to 3-1 in the fifth before the Wolverines answered with a two-run single from Lindsay Marlewitz to tie the game.
Cleary regained the advantage in the sixth, capitalizing on defensive miscues to take a 5-3 lead heading into the final inning.
In the seventh, Michigan-Dearborn mounted its comeback. LeStat Guthrie scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to one, before Brooklynn Jones tied the game with an RBI single up the middle. Moments later, Ava Craft delivered the game-winning hit, driving in Elizabeth Petrella to complete the walk-off victory.
The Wolverines totaled 13 hits in the game, with Guthrie and Braylin Grueter each recording two hits and scoring runs. Marlewitz drove in two, while Jones, Craft, and Finlaw each added an RBI.
In the circle, Brooklynn Jones started and allowed three runs over 4.1 innings. Boehm earned the win in relief, surrendering two runs—both unearned—over the final 2.2 innings.
