Avery North Takes First at AHBA #4, Multiple Wolverines Finish Inside the Top Five
Four Wolverines finished inside the top five in their opening event of 2026.
WATERFORD, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn bowling team delivered a series of impressive individual efforts at the AHBA #4 Individual Varsity Men Finals, highlighted by multiple Wolverines finishing among the top competitors.
Avery North led the UM-Dearborn contingent with an outstanding performance, posting a 1,162 total pinfall across five games to capture the AHBA #4 Individual Varsity Men title. North's consistent scoring—including games of 277, 268 and 214—anchored the Wolverines and set the tone for the team.
Nearing North's strong showing was teammate Tyler Kiroski, who carded a 1,111 pin total in his five games, good for fourth place and Nathan Roberts, also in the UM-Dearborn lineup, who finished with 1,005 pins, taking home a top-five finish. Both bowlers demonstrated depth and competitiveness throughout the event.
In the women's competition, the Wolverines were highlighted by Makenzie Barthlow, who recorded a total of 956 pins, securing a strong second-place finish behind Lourdes University's Veronica Flanagan (962). UM-Dearborn's Rebecca Claypool also posted a noteworthy performance with 822 pins, contributing to the team's overall presence toward the top of the standings. The women's field included athletes from several universities, including Lawrence Technological University, Alma College, Grand Valley State University, and Davenport University.
