Wolverines Wrap up WHAC I
The Wolverine bowling teams wrapped up competition at WHAC I on Saturday (Sept. 27).
JACKSON, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's and women's bowling teams kicked off the 2025-26 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) season on Saturday at the Jackson Open, hosted at JAX 60. Competing against a strong conference field, both Wolverine squads gained valuable experience in their first WHAC event of the season.
The UM-Dearborn women's team placed 10th overall, totaling 4,701 pins over three traditional team games and four Baker sets. The Wolverines' best traditional performance came in Game 2, where they rolled an 828, showing strong improvement throughout the day.
Individually, Mackenzee Barthlow led UM-Dearborn with a 542 series (180-182-180) to finish 15th overall. Becca Claypool followed closely with a 519 (156-194-169) to take 28th, while Lilliana Matatov posted a 491 (173-133-185) for 41st. Avery Koebke (170-168-143—481) and Madison Esterline (139-155-176—470) rounded out the Wolverines' scoring lineup.
Spring Arbor won the women's division with 5,700 pins, followed by Indiana Tech (5,583) and Lawrence Tech (5,530).
On the men's side, UM-Dearborn placed 12th overall with a total of 5,359 pins, highlighted by a strong 925 in Game 3. Competing against several of the WHAC's top-ranked programs, the Wolverines showed flashes of consistency and teamwork.
In individual play, Tyler Kiroski paced UM-Dearborn with a 592 series (205-176-211), placing 33rd overall in the field. Avery North followed with a 590 (227-183-180), finishing 34th, while Thomas Bain recorded a 503 (153-202-148). Charles McSwain Jr. added a 478 (176-159-143).
Indiana Tech captured the men's title with 6,706 total pins, edging Lawrence Tech (6,441) and St. Francis (6,231).
