On Saturday September 21st, 2013, the University of Michigan-Dearborn Volleyball team took a day trip to Grand Rapids to face Grace Bible College and Mount Mary College. The Wolverines swept away both matches, ending the day 6-1. The Wolverines defeated Mount Mary College 3-0 and then continued their winning ways by knocking off Grace Bible College 3-1.
Even with a switch in their serve receive rotations the girls worked through for their first non-conference back to back win of the season! Red-shirt freshman Colby DeMare led the offense with minimal errors and well placed swings, meanwhile Red-shirt freshman Natasha Hampton and freshman Danielle Horvath also made appearances on the court building reps and allowing for new experiences as a team. Finally, it is said that serves can win you a match, this was obviously clear today as Brittany Yanos racked up 12 serving aces! The team has much more to focus on in the upcoming weeks, but can do so now instilled with some confidence.
The team plays next at Davenport University on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:00pm.
