Dearborn, MI - The volleyball team won its first conference match of the season in convincing fashion defeating the visiting Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 3-0. The Wolverines (7-15, 1-3) dominated up front with 16 blocks during the match while the Blue Devils (3-12, 0-4) did not register one block the entire night.
Michigan-Dearborn also got some great passing from junior Rebecca Carley seniors Brittany Yanos and Emily Tjapkes. Carley, the team captain and libero, led the way with 17 digs while Yanos and Tjapkes each had 11 digs. In fact, every member of the team who played had at least one dig in the match. The Wolverines also spread the wealth in attacking as well. Yanos led the team with 8 kills while senior Nia Martin and junior Sabrina Garmo each had 7 kills.
The volleyball team will hope to continue their winning ways when they host the Indiana Tech Warriors on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:00pm.
