SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team showed resilience on the road, earning a 0-0 draw against Wittenberg University on Tuesday (Sept. 2) evening.
The Wolverines leaned heavily on junior goalkeeper Mohammad Bader, who turned in a standout performance with 10 saves to secure his first shutout of the season. Wittenberg applied constant pressure throughout the match, finishing with 22 total shots and 10 on target, but Bader's steady play between the posts kept the hosts off the scoreboard.
UM-Dearborn, meanwhile, struggled to generate chances offensively, finishing without a shot in the match. Despite the lack of attempts, the Wolverines held strong defensively, clearing repeated set pieces and limiting second-chance opportunities.
Wittenberg finished with an 8-6 edge in corner kicks and a 7-2 advantage in fouls, but neither side could find the decisive moment.
With the result, UM-Dearborn moves to 1-1-1 overall, while Wittenberg stands at 2-0-1. The Wolverines will look to build off their defensive effort as they continue non-conference play before entering WHAC competition.
