DEARBORN, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team battled throughout the match but came up short in a 3–1 loss to Cornerstone University on Wednesday night at the Legacy Center.
The Golden Eagles struck early, taking a 1–0 lead in the 7th minute when Isaac Wood found the back of the net off an assist from Gavan Bignall. Cornerstone extended its advantage later in the first half, as Ethan Hehl scored unassisted in the 26th minute to make it 2–0.
The Wolverines responded after halftime with a burst of energy. In the 61st minute, freshman forward Diego Beaman capitalized on a setup from Michael Beskin-Diaz to cut the deficit to one. Despite several strong defensive stands and steady play from goalkeeper Keegan Creedon, who tallied one save in the second half, UM-Dearborn couldn't find the equalizer.
Cornerstone sealed the win in the 87th minute with a goal from Tyler Corstange, assisted again by Bignall.
