HOWELL, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team battled throughout but came up short in a 2-0 road loss to Cleary University on Saturday afternoon in WHAC action.
The Cougars opened the scoring late in the first half when Oscar Clarke found the back of the net in the 36th minute off a pass from Luca Taylor, giving Cleary a 1-0 advantage at the break. Clarke later set up Dillon Croft for an insurance goal in the 85th minute to seal the win for the home side.
Despite being outshot 17-4, the Wolverines competed well defensively. Goalkeeper Mohammad Bader turned in a strong performance, making eight saves on 10 shots on goal. Offensively, John Clark, Salah Jallad, and Luke Wittrock each recorded a shot for UM-Dearborn.
The Wolverines earned five corner kicks on the afternoon and stayed disciplined, conceding just nine fouls in a physical conference matchup.
With the loss, UM-Dearborn moves to 1-5-1 overall and 0-3-0 in WHAC play, while Cleary improves to 8-2-0 (2-1-0 WHAC).
