KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team dropped its first road contest of the season Friday, falling 2-0 to Kalamazoo College in nonconference action.
The Hornets broke through late in the first half when Lucas Ruiz scored unassisted in the 41st minute to give Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead at the break. The Wolverines generated a pair of looks in the opening half, including shots from Noah Carmona and Kaelan Wright, but were turned away by Hornets goalkeeper Jackson Janderwski.
Kalamazoo doubled its advantage in the 68th minute as Henry Plumstead finished off a feed from Tony Mares-Viveros. UM-Dearborn was unable to find an answer despite creating six total shots, with Wright and Noah Carmona each putting an attempt on target.
In goal, Mohammad Bader and Keegan Creedon split time evenly, each making three saves while allowing one goal apiece. Kalamazoo outshot UM-Dearborn 23-6 and held an 11-2 edge in corner kicks.
With the loss, UM-Dearborn moves to 1-1-0 overall, while Kalamazoo improves to 1-0-0. The Wolverines continue their nonconference slate next week.
