SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team was unable to slow down a high-powered Spring Arbor attack, falling 4-0 Wednesday night at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
The Cougars (5-2) outshot the Wolverines 30-2 and capitalized on their chances in both halves. Spring Arbor broke through in the 25th minute as David Magalhaes netted his second goal of the season. Just before halftime, Ryan Nees doubled the lead with his first collegiate goal, giving the hosts a 2-0 advantage at the break.
UM-Dearborn (1-2-1) held firm for much of the second half, but the Cougars added insurance late. Magalhaes struck again in the 78th minute before Kellen Eva closed out the scoring in the 88th.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mohammad Bader was busy all evening, registering seven saves against 11 shots on goal. Offensively, the Wolverines were limited to two attempts, with Jawad Nourredine recording the team's lone shot on target.
Spring Arbor's pressure also led to a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks, keeping UM-Dearborn pinned in their defensive third for much of the match.
