DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team came up just shy in a hard-fought matchup, falling 2-1 to Defiance College (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon at home. Despite controlling possession and generating several strong scoring chances, the Wolverines were unable to complete the comeback.
Defiance (2-9-1) struck first in the 9th minute as Kendahl Stanley found the back of the net off an assist from Henrique Wozniak. UM-Dearborn (1-7-1, 0-5-0 WHAC) quickly responded, with Kaelan Wright scoring his first goal of the season in the 17th minute to level the match at 1-1. However, the Yellow Jackets reclaimed the lead just one minute later when Griffin Meyer capitalized on a setup from Gabriel Lorenzetti — a goal that ultimately stood as the game-winner.
The Wolverines outshot Defiance 19-5, including 12 shots on goal, but could not solve goalkeeper Jacob Goldsberry, who made 11 saves in a standout performance. Salah Jallad and Wright led the attack with a combined seven shots on target, while Keegan Creedon made two saves in goal for UM-Dearborn.
